What a great turn out for our German Heritage Dinner!
We served over 400 dinners,
which included 150 take-outs.
800 lbs of Mettwurst
sold in 45 minutes!
Thank you to everyone who supported this event.
This slide show of the dinner shows a few of the sixty-three people who helped the day of the dinner. This includes those who cooked the Mettwurst, kraut, green beans, and fried potatoes. The meat sellers, ticket takers, waiters, servers, drink makers, dish scrapers, dish washers, take-out servers, desert people, greeters. This does not include all the people who made rye bread, pies, German Chocolate cake, Bavarian Torte and salads. So, you can see this event takes a large group of people. It is work but it is also fun. The best part is the fellowship of working together. Hope to see you next year.
What a great group of guys hung the Mettwurst to be smoked.
Then on Saturday morning the smoked meat was taken to church to be cooked.
The week of February 4th is busy. On Sunday after church, we set up for Monday night's meat cutting, seasoning and mixing. The next day it is taken to Omaha to be stuffed into links of Mettwurst. Below is a slide show of the preparation of the meat.
